Since producing doesn't pay the bills, I've been working at Starbucks the past few years. Over these years, certain regular customers got to know the producer side of me. They would often ask how my music is going, or if I made a new beat over the weekend.

Two particular regulars, a cute couple with a lovely family, decided to help me on my musical journey by giving me a big box of 80's funk and R&B records to sample.

This quest of discovering funk started at the beginning of January 2014, but was put on the back burner during February due to the beat-a-day challenge I undertook for J Dilla (RIP). Recently, I picked the project back up. After much focus and determination, it's my honor to present to you, Funk Fades.

I hope that these beats will inspire you to view the world a little differently. Maybe you will even decide to explore the music that came before.
